Brian Rice, P.E. - Environmental Services
In broadest terms, the environmental profession is concerned with understanding the impacts of human activities on the public health, natural environmental quality, and natural resources and with developing the scientific basis for identifying, analyzing, solving, mitigating, or managing environmental problems caused by human activities. The profession emerged in response to widespread public concern about groundwater and air pollution and increasingly extensive environmental quality degradation.
It is because of this far reaching impact that Brian has devoted his time and effort to be involved in a variety of public and private environmental initiatives including brownfield redevelopment, industrial/commercial real estate environmental due diligence, water resource management and development, environmental site assessments, pollution cleanup assessments, Michigan Baseline Environmental Assessments and Due Care Compliance, underground storage tank management and cleanups, and environmental release response and reporting.
"The large number of Brownfield sites, combined with Federal/State financial and tax incentives for brownfield redevelopment, create a prime opportunity to limit urban sprawl, promote redevelopment of underutilized or abandoned property served by existing infrastructure and expand Michigan's renewable energy capacity.“ Accoridng to Brian.
