Engineers Week: Meet Mohamed

- News

“Mohamed has been a great addition to the Traffic Services Group and F&V since joining the team last year. He brings a unique perspective from his past experiences and is eager to learning new skills. We are glad that he chose to join our group and take on new challenges every day.”

– Julie Kroll, PE, PTOE, Senior Project Manager

Name: Mohamed Aguib, EIT

Years of experience: 10 years.

Your hidden talent (or a fun fact): I am very organized.

What superhero talent do you wish you had? To never need to sleep.

If my co-workers wanted to make me happy, all they have to give me is: Work.

How or when did you know you wanted to be an engineer? What’s your earliest recollection, if any? My family indirectly influenced me to become an engineer. There are at least 15 engineers in my direct family.

What’s been your favorite F&V project to work on and why? How did it make a difference to the community? Traffic and safety projects for the City of Birmingham has been my favorite work so far because we get input from the City engineers and the public, which shows the collaboration, addressing their needs, and eventually benefiting the entire community.

If you could work on any project (future or past – and doesn’t need to be F&V) what would it be and why? I’d like to do traffic studies for private developments. It helps get their developments approved and improves the economy in the area.

What is your favorite thing about F&V’s culture and what do you add/contribute to the culture? F&V’s culture welcomes everyone. I was born in the US and grew up in Egypt, and I’m happy to bring my Egyptian culture into the office and share it with my co-workers.

Why is engineering important? / Why are you excited to be a part of engineers week? Everything around us had some engineering involved in its making. Engineering provides the means and methods for the development of everything. Engineers week reminds everyone that engineers are the past and the future.

What are you most looking forward to in 2019? (career-wise or in general) Succeeding with F&V and delivering high quality services to all our clients.
