Sparrow Health System celebrated the opening of its eighth hospital in Michigan with a ribbon cutting, dedication and open house for the Sparrow Ionia Hospital. This is the first new hospital built in Ionia County in more than six decades.
The state-of-the-art environmentally friendly facility, located at 3565 S. State Road in Ionia, will help the region’s largest health system continue to provide top-notch health care. Bill Roeser, president and CEO of Sparrow Ionia Hospital, delivered the opening and closing remarks touching on the new technology and improved healing environment.
The new LEED certified hospital features 18 private in-patient rooms, 12 private emergency department rooms, two operating rooms with eight private pre-op and post-op rooms. Following the ceremony, representatives from each of the hospital’s departments were available to visitors taking a tour of the hospital.
F&V provided full site / civil design and landscape design services for the 65,000-square foot hospital that sits on a 43-acre campus. Key features of the site include helipad, LEED-certification, and extensive permitting including MDOT, MDEQ, Township, City and FAA agencies.
