Press Release: F&V Announces 5 New Hires

Fleis & VandenBrink (F&V) announced today the hiring of five new employees including three senior staff.

Two senior engineers will join the East Michigan Services Group. Julie Kroll, a licensed professional engineer and professional traffic operations engineer, and Dan Cabage who is senior civil licensed professional engineer will be joining the firm at the Farmington Hills location. The hiring of the two senior project managers is part of the firm’s strategic plan to capture more engineering work in Metro Detroit and southeast Michigan.

The East Michigan Service Group has 20 employees and offices in Farmington Hills, Grand Blanc and Midland and is co-managed by Mike Labadie, PE and Gary Bartow.

“With our recent growth and expanded workload, we need senior level project managers to help serve those clients,” said Larry Fleis, PE and president.

Kroll has more than 15 years of experience in transportation engineering, working on both private and public sector projects in several states. She has worked extensively with the Department of Transportation, county road commissions, cities and private clients.

Kroll’s strong traffic engineering background will help her in supervising and mentoring junior staff, project management, analyses, and QA/QC review of reports and plans.

Cabage has over 25 years of experience, working for cities, villages and townships in Michigan and Ohio. His extensive municipal experience will help him at F&V further serve the firm’s client base, supervise staff, project management, and project quality control.

Jerry Fleis has joined the F&V Construction Group as a senior construction manager in Grand Rapids. He has over 20 years of experience in constructing multi-family housing and commercial developments.

Fleis brings a unique perspective of being from both sides of the table as a former developer/owner and builder. His duties include project scoping and pricing, contract setup, constructability reviews and project management and supervision.

Elizabeth Girgen has also joined the Grand Rapids office as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with the new Water Resources Specialties group, which focuses on hydraulic and infiltration and inflow studies.

Her impressive internship experience has prepared her to excel in data analysis, alternatives evaluation and report writing and is a recent grad from the University of Michigan.

Craig Lankford joined the Indianapolis staff as CAD Tech/Civil Engineer (EIT). He has experience in topographic and as-built surveys, route and right-of-way surveys, and boundary surveys. He will be working on Indiana Department of Transportation funded projects as a design engineer and Civil 3D tech.

F&V is a full-service engineering and architectural firm with more than 170 employees including specialists in the municipal, private and industrial sectors. The firm has been locally and nationally recognized as one of the “101 Best & Brightest Companies to Work For” and a “National Hot Firm” for its revenue growth and outperforming the economy and competitors.
