The first time around proved to be a charm for the Town of Windfall, which has been in dire straits with its aging wastewater treatment plant. Last month, it was one of 17 rural communities to receive a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) for $700,000 to make wastewater improvements.
“This is a dream come true for our small town,” said Denise Ryan, Windfall Town Council woman. “We haven’t been up to code at our wastewater treatment plant for years and now we will be.”
Small Indiana Towns and Cities will get another chance to apply for CDBG funding. A second Call for Projects has been issued by the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA). Proposals are due Oct. 4 and final applications are due Nov. 4.
