The General Bag Company building sat vacant, overgrown with shrubs and targeted with vandalism in the Village of Edmore for a number of years. Located downtown, as well as near Fred Meijer Heartland Trail and M-46, the building was a prime location to become the destination of a gathering site. The Village saw its potential and contacted F&V to further help develop the building and property into a destination.
The Village decided to use its Farm to Food Grant dollars combined with the redevelopment to create a Farmers Market at the abandoned site and tackle two projects at once.
F&V provided conceptual design, including a graphic site plan and character renderings. The designs incorporated the Village’s goals to have a seasonal outdoor market and four-seasonal indoor market where local artists will be able to showcase talent and goods, and visitors and residents can connect with the history of Edmore.
