The Thomas Solvents Raymond Road (TSRR site) was identified as the primary source of contamination to the Verona Wellfield, the main source of potable water to the City of Battle Creek.
F&V has operated remediation systems at the site to cleanup contaminated soil and groundwater, including a groundwater extraction/treatment system and an extensive air sparging/soil vapor extraction system. Incremental sampling was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment on site soils and identify areas of soil requiring further remediation. A preliminary soil remediation alternative and cost analysis was conducted and submitted to EGLE and the EPA for their use in developing a Focused Feasibility Study for soil remediation.
The remedial efforts have been successful in reducing the levels of groundwater contaminants onsite to below closure levels.
