Press Release: F&V Adds Five Employees

Fleis & VandenBrink (F&V) has added five new staff, including a senior-level project manager.

Rob Berends, PE, has joined the Private Development Group. The Grand Rapids native will be serving site development clients as a senior project manager.

“Rob is a great addition,” said Aaron Catlin, Development Group Manager. “He brings 25 years of site design and management experience in the commercial, medical and residential markets.”

Berends graduated from Michigan Tech in Civil Engineering. He has worked at two other local engineering firms.

Sam Lipscomb will also work out of F&V’s Grand Rapids office as a Lead GIS Technician. He is part of the GIS Group to meet the growing demand for GIS support services.

Lipscomb, who has a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from Central Michigan University in Geographic Information Sciences, has prior GIS technician experience with the City of Grand Rapids.

F&V added three other staffers at various Michigan offices.

Brandon Hayes joins F&V as a Project Engineer in the Farmington Hills office, where he’ll be working in the Traffic Engineering Group providing engineering analysis and report writing. Hayes brings six years of traffic engineering experience. Hayes received his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Windsor.

Matt Kurkowski joins the Traverse City team as a GIS and CAD Technician. The Northern Michigan University graduate has a Bachelor of Science degree in Geographic Information Science. He will be assisting F&V with creating GIS for asset management of public infrastructure, coordinating field condition assessments and drafting of civil engineering projects in Civil3D.

Kurkowski brings over 10 years of experience working in multiple GIS platforms, processing and collecting field survey data, and drafting in Civil3D.

Sandra Zukowski, previously worked as an administrative assistant for the teacher’s union in the Kalamazoo Public Schools, is now an administrative assistant for F&V’s Kalamazoo office. Her experience will help in assisting project managers with correspondence, report preparation and specification development including bidding and construction phase engineering services.

Zukowski graduated from Western Michigan University with a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education and received her paralegal certification from Davenport University.
