IKEA streamlines customers through an in-out approach and wanted to be sure their parking lot was the same. When IKEA was interested in expanding its Canton Township Warehouse, they asked F&V to conduct a traffic analysis to gauge its feasibility.

F&V traffic engineers performed a Traffic Impact Study (TIS) for the site. The purpose of the study was to collect traffic volume information for 2 twelve-hour time periods on a peak weekday and a peak weekend day.

The TIS included an hourly collection of two-way traffic volumes at access point site locations during the specified time periods. F&V prepared and presented a report documenting the activities and results of our data collection effort to IKEA.

The study results were then able to be incorporated into a master plan, which then lead to IKEA’s successful approval for expansion – with a smooth-flowing parking lot.
