WASTEWATER IMPROVEMENTS MAXIMIZE BUDGET AND RELIABILITY
The City of Dunkirk last upgraded its wastewater treatment plant in the 1980’s – most of the equipment needed to be updated or replaced. After determining that open market financing was the most attractive way to meet their schedule, the City hired F&V to improve their systems and maximize their dollar.
Working with City staff, F&V drafted a comprehensive alternatives analysis to present to Council. Once approved, F&V designed the wastewater plant improvements. Key improvements included a new Headworks Building, fine screening, grit removal, replacement of primary and final clarifier equipment, upgrades to the extended aeration system, energy efficient pumps, new Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and upgrades to the disinfection system.
The $4.0 million project provided much-needed facility upgrades that improved the reliability and overall efficiency of the plant, as well as saved the community valuable money.
