SURVEY GOOD FOR HEALTH CARE PLANS
Mercy Health System wanted to consolidate three Muskegon in-patient medical facilities into one acute care facility by expanding and remodeling its Mercy Campus. Plans were made to construct a new $271 million, 267-bed medical center at the Sherman Boulevard facility in Muskegon. The expansion plans included a nine-story inpatient tower and emergency department and extensive renovations.
F&V provided surveying services to create a base map for the design team of the expansion. The surveys – ALTA, boundary, topographic and base flood elevations– covered a larger area including the existing hospital’s site, the adjacent building sites and wetland areas. It included locating all existing underground utilities, mapping all the natural and manmade features on the site Building and tree heights were also surveyed as part of the design for helicopter approach areas.
The surveying of parking lots, wetlands and existing building was the biggest of the year for F&V’s survey crew. Their work will assist the new facility, which is scheduled to be completed by June of 2019, to provide a better experience for patients, employees and physicians alike according to hospital officials.
F&V is also providing civil and site engineering.
