The West Michigan Chapter of the Air & Waste Management Association (WM-AWMA) is pleased to announce the availability of up to four individual scholarships, each in the amount of $2,500, to be awarded to selected college juniors, seniors, and graduate students pursuing a career in qualifying environmental studies. Preferred courses of study include environmental engineering, physical or natural sciences, and natural resources, though students in other, related fields may also qualify. Each successful applicant will also receive a one-year student membership in WM-AWMA.
Scholarship application instructions and a link to the online application are available on the WM-AWMA website. Applications must be submitted online no later than midnight on Sunday, November 27, 2016. The Scholarship Committee will notify each successful applicant by approximately December 15, 2016, and scholarship checks will be issued in January 2017.
At the start of the first term in 2017, applicants must be enrolled as full-time students (at least 12 credit hours) in a field of study leading to a career in air pollution control, waste management or other environmental management field. Scholarship applicants must be in or going into a Junior or Senior undergraduate class standing and must have declared their major, or in or going into graduate school pursuing a graduate degree. Merit will be of primary interest, and the applicant should have at least a “B” average (i.e., 3.0 on a 4.0 point scale). Extracurricular activities and interests will also be considered.
