University Building Demolition
Project Overview
The Wesley Foundation building was located at the heart of Western Michigan University’s (WMU) main campus since the 1950s. The building became outdated and had limited space for all the functions and programs Wesley provides. More space and updated facilities were needed for Wesley to continue meeting its mission. A new home, on the outskirts of WMU’s campus, was found. The old building, which was transferred back to WMU, needed to be demolished.
Working with BDN Industrial Hygienists, F&V conducted hazardous materials assessments; prepared biddable specifications for asbestos abatement and demolition; assisted with bid management and contractor selection; and provided observation and documentation of the demolition process.
WMU officials have the old site ready for future use, and the Wesley Foundation has a new home and a safe and welcoming space.
