Project Summary

The Lakewood Elementary School site on Washington Boulevard in the village of Lake Odessa was founded in the early 1960’s with the most recent school expansion in 1997-98. The entire school site is approximately 12.8 acres in size.

Most of these improvements focused on building expansion’s with additional parking edit as needed to accommodate the expanded facilities. The overall site circulation however remained unchanged with general parking here and drop off and student bussing all intertwined utilizing the same areas.

F&V was engaged to look at a new approach on increasing overall site safety by creating individual zones where these different and competing uses could be isolated and prioritized to increase overall site circulation and safety. As part of the master plan process teacher parking parent drop off in visitor parking and bus parking were allocated to three separate areas on the site.
