Fleis & VandenBrink (F&V) announced the addition of four new Associates to its ownership team. New Associates include Scott Hall, PE, Scott Rasmussen, PE, Katie Strohauer and Robert Jones.

“It’s pretty awesome and I’m really glad to see these four employees step forward in their careers,” said John DeVol, president of F&V and its parent company F&V Companies, Inc. after announcing the new leaders. “Each of our Associates is nominated and voted on by their peers, so this is really a testament to their fellow employees recognizing their contributions and value to the organization. One of the most important parts of being invited to be part of our Principal/Associate program is living our company values every day.

“We’re looking forward to watching them continue their growth in the coming years.”

F&V celebrated its 30th anniversary on Jan. 12, and over that time has grown from a two-person civil engineering firm to more than 260 employees with nine offices in Michigan and Indiana. The Principal/Associate program was started in 2006 to promote leadership and ownership transition. Principals and Associates are nominated by their peers and vetted out by the Principals and Senior Associates.

Hall, a Process Group project engineer in Grand Rapids, joined F&V seven years ago. He has nine years of experience in the design of water and wastewater treatment facilities. Hall has a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering from Michigan Technological University.

Rasmussen is a West Michigan Municipal Group project manager with over 10 years of experience in engineering design and consulting. He has a master’s degree in Construction Engineering and Management from North Carolina State University. Rasmussen, who joined F&V in 2017, works out of the Traverse City office.

Strohauer, a geologist in the Environmental Group, has six years of experience in environmental consulting. She has a bachelor’s degree in Hydrology and Applied Mathematics from Western Michigan University and works in the Kalamazoo office. Strohauer joined F&V four years ago.

Jones joined F&V’s sister company, F&V Operations & Resource Management, Inc. (FVOP), in 2014 as an operations specialist, specializing in water operations. He has nearly 40 years of experience in operations of water and wastewater systems and holds multiple licenses and certifications including industrial wastewater A-1d, A-2b, B-1b, B-2a, and C-2a and municipal water: D1, F2, and S1.

In 2022, F&V was recognized as one of the “Best and Brightest Companies to Work For” in West Michigan, Metro Detroit, as well as in the Nation. It was also recognized in 2022 as the 90th ranked “Hot Firm” in the United States and Canada by Zweig Group, a leading advisor for the architectural, engineering, planning, and environmental consulting firms.
