Project Summary

The City of Three Rivers had several roads needing improvements, especially with a large MDOT project starting nearby. The MDOT improvements would bring more traffic to the City, meaning improvements needed to be completed prior.

F&V provided design and construction engineering for the asphalt resurfacing improvements made to several City streets in advance of MDOT reconstructing US-131 in the 2019 construction season. Work included removal of the existing asphalt surface, aggregate base improvements, and curb & gutter and sidewalk improvements, as well as traffic control. Dedicated detour routes, as well as self-directed detours, were used during streets resurfacing. The 1.5 miles of road resurfacing was along Millard Street, Douglas Avenue, S. Health Parkway, and Hill Street.

The City’s streets millage funded the resurfacing project. The resurfaced roads are expected to handle all future demands including traffic associated with the US-131 reconstruction.
