HEALING BUILDINGS AND PATIENT ENVIRONMENTS
Sparrow Health System leads mid-Michigan as the largest healthcare provider. To maintain its advantage, Sparrow decided to build a new hospital to improve the healing environment for patients, as well as provide better, updated resources.
The Christman Company hired F&V to provide full site/civil design, landscape design and construction phase services, including a helicopter pad. Other work included water and sewer extensions, storm water management and the road widening of M-66. Extensive permitting included MDOT, MDEQ, Township, City and FAA agencies.
The hospital is the first new hospital built in Ionia County in over six decades. Sparrow qualified for LEED-certification, using over 20% recycled material on the building to help reduce energy savings and operational costs. Sparrow will continue their commitment to “building a healthy future” with its private 18 inpatient rooms, 12 emergency departments rooms and two operating rooms with eight pre-op/post-op rooms.
